I am really excited to share with you all my thoughts on the MAC – Studio Fix Fluid Foundation today!
I use shade NW20 with all base products I buy from MAC! I’ve found, and been asked a lot about NW & NC when you are buying base products from MAC & want to share with you all the differences between NW & NC, to help with selecting the right foundation / base products that will suit your skin tone!
NW – stands for Neutral Warm &
NC – stands for Neutral Cool
I have pink / beige undertones to my skin complexion, so I would opt for an NW based product as it will help neutralise my skin by using a cool, yellow based product! & if you have yellow undertones to you skin tone, you’d probably be better off using an NC based product, as it will help to neutralise your skin colour & will work with your skin!
So basically, if I’ve confused you, I want to try & un-confuse you, I’ve probably even confused myself 😛
Cool Undertones – If you have very fair skin like myself, and you have pinkish undertones in your skin, then you are cool toned and to neutralise that, you would need and NW shade.
Warm Undertones – If you have a medium / dark skin tone and have yellow undertones, then to neutralise that you’ll need an NC shade.
I’ve never tried any foundations from MAC before & I was interested in trying this particular one, as I heard it was great for a medium matte coverage!!! & because I have an oily T-zone I thought it will keep everything in place & not create a lot of shine on my t-zone area! I’ve been really happy with this purchase in fact, I really like the coverage of this foundation, it’s really easy to blend into the skin & I use my Nicka K Airbrush blending sponge to apply the foundation onto my face & it doesn’t dry quickly, & the formula gives me enough time to fully blend it all into my skin! It also has SPF 15 Which is great to protect you against the sun, but I haven’t fully tested this out yet, as the weather hasn’t been very sunny here in London ( the slight wave of sun, clouded by rain & you guessed it more & more rain) haha!
I love the lasting nature of this foundation too, it manages to stay 12+ Hours on my skin without sweating off & I love that, the foundation feels light & breathable on the skin. It feels like air on the skin! But if I compare it to my Charlotte Tilbury – Magic Foundation it’s not as light, or velvety as the Charlotte Tilbury one! Then again I’m making slight comparisons between my foundations! & If I’m honest, yes it costs £3 cheaper to buy the foundation & pump from MAC £26.50, but in comparison to the Charlotte Tilbury foundation £29.50, it doesn’t get everything quite right. Don’t get me wrong I love everything about this foundation, but comparing the actual blending qualities, the lasting nature, the coverage, the formula and everything it doesn’t quite beat my Magic Foundation (But it does the job)!!!

*A few little things that you have to consider when purchasing the MAC foundations is that the foundation doesn’t come with an included pump, and so you’ll need to purchase a separate pump for £4.50 (so if you compare the foundation prices with other high end alternatives you’re paying the same amount… but that one comes with a pump included in the price) LOL!
Me rocking the Studio Fix Foundation, with my best friend Ghaida next to me <3 !
