The Ordinary

Hi!!!!

Welcome back to my blog :)!!! & I hope you’re all having a lovely week. Today on I Am Serene L, I will be reviewing a whole load of The Ordinary range…. EXCITING!!!

I know the numbers, the words can be very scary when you’re looking at The Ordinary products, but I’m here to break down a couple of the products I’ve used and explain the benefits of using them. The Deciem website, which is the company that owns The Ordinary amongst other leading skincare & makeup brand has a lot of great information on each individual product!!! 🙂 You can check out the Deciem website by clicking here!

|| The Ordinary – Caffeine solution 5% + EGCG ||

The OrdinaryCaffeine Solution 5% + EGCG is my favourite one out of the bunch I’ve tried from products I bought to try!!! The solution contains 5% of caffeine. That works to relieve the appearance of eye contour pigmentation and eye puffiness. The solution is also packed with (EGCG) Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside which is extracted from Green Teas leaves, which aids in reducing the appearance of puffiness.

I have applied this solution in the morning and in the night time around my eye area. 2 drops for each eye area. I would add the drops using the dropper and massage the solution lightly until absorbed under the eyes. I would then proceed in applying the rest of the solutions and then my moisturising cream.

|| The Ordinary – Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% ||

The Ordinary – Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% is the perfect molecule for reducing the appearance of blemishes, and skin congestion and clogged pores!!! Hooray! It contains 10% concentration of the Vitamin Niacinamide combined with 1% of Zinc Salt  of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid to neutralise the build up of sebum.

If you use any Vitamin C products, please use Niacinamide at different times to using Vitamin C products, however if you don’t you can use this like I do in the morning and the night time. I would apply 2 drops and massage into my skin until fully absorbed, before I go ahead and apply the rest of my acids, and then moisturising cream.

|| The Ordinary – Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5||

This is one of my favourite products from The Ordinary range!!! I absolutely love the Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5. It’s the perfect vegan friendly hydrator molecule, and contains Vitamin B5 which promotes skin surface hydration. It’s perfection!!!

The Hyaluronic Acid molecules within the The Ordinary solution combine bow low – medium and high molecules, which offer a light blast of hydration across the skins surface. I would apply 3 drops on my cheeks, and forehead in the morning and the night time. Then massage and pat the acid onto my skin surface. The formula is easily absorbed. The solution dries quickly into the skin.

|| The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution||

The OrdinarySalicylic Acid 2% Solution contains witch hazel, and acts as a beta hydroxy acid which is great for skin exfoliation. The benefits of exfoliation means that the skins surface & the inside wall of pores can be exfoliated to help fight against blemishes and to help reduce the appearance of blemishes with an ongoing use of the acid.

I’ve used this exfoliating acid in the morning and the night time, with 2 drops one for each side of my face, and patted the acid gently and massaged the acid in circular motions to activate the gentle exfoliation. It will leave a white after foam on the skin for a couple of minutes, and then dry transparent into the skin. I have very sensitive skin, and was worried about trying out these acids on my face, but it caused no irritation whatsoever, and I’ve genuinely noticed incredible results of my blemishes reduced within 2 days of using the Salicylic Acid!!!!

Also, it’s very important to utilise the power of SPF, and sun protection when using acids, and exfoliating products. So if you’re using these products in the day and night please remember to apply a layer of SPF during the day time :)!!! I use my Glossier Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen protection with SPF 30 – you can read my review on it by clicking here!

All in all, I definitely recommend The Ordinary range, as they are high quality products produced by scientists that take care with the formula’s and the solutions out there!!! and the prices are incredibly competitive & you’re able to buy 5 products for the price of 1 higher end product to test and customise your own skincare routine!!!

    1. Hi hun, honestly the scent wasn’t an issue for me! I love the range, and most of them are unscented from the ones I’ve tried! The caffeine solution has a hint of caffeine only which I don’t mind 🙂 hehehe xoxo
